  • Description: The Utrecht Sequencing Facility (USEQ) has been providing an important role in offering Next-Generation Sequencing technology for more than 5 years. UMC Utrecht has been participating in the NWO National Infrastructure Project X-Omics since 2018 which aims to offer specific DNA, RNA and protein sequencing and / or provisions as facilities to Dutch researchers. At the end of 2019, UMC Utrecht invested in the technology of NanoString Geomx which is aimed at simultaneously detecting hundreds to thousands of DNA, RNA or protein targets in by giving a user regions on a microscopy image. This has led to great enthusiasm with our customers and we have entered into several projects. However, the geomx cannot measure the targets within 1 single cell, which is a great wish through many of our customers. The NanoString Cosmx has recently been introduced, a device that can determine RNA and egg whites targets in a single cell. It can even indicate localization within sub-compartments of the cell.
