- The Engineers of the Royal Netherlands Army have a capability gap within the breakthrough capacity and do not have sufficient adequate breakthrough resources to break through obstacles in the highest spectrum of violence. The most complex breakthrough is a minefield combined with non-explosive obstaclesand, such as wire obstacles. The Genie has the Armored Engineer Breaching Vehicle (AEBV) Kodiak breakthrough tank for this purpose. In addition, the Genie has the option to breach manually by using metal detectors and mine picks. However, this is very labor intensive and riskyol voor het personeel.
