Description:
Traffic and Water Management (VWM) is a national organizational unit of Rijkswaterstaat, including the Road Traffic Management Process (WVM). The purpose of the WVM process is to ensure smooth and safe traffic by road. Under normal circumstances, this means that the roads in an area are used as well as possible. Under special circumstances, this means that deviations are handled or managed as quickly and safely as possible. Within the WVM process, the WVLs, WVers and, if necessary, the Officer of Service (OVD) provide for preventing, anticipating and ultimately handling blockages on the road (for example due to accidents, breakdowns and falling charge). Incident management focuses on the safety of the road users involved and limiting the nuisance for traffic behind traffic. These tasks are mainly provided by WVLs from RWS from the traffic plants and by the wises on the road. The OVDs are also involved in larger incidents.
