- The House of Representatives of the States General conducted a parliamentary survey in 2023 on the consequences of natural gas extraction in Groningen. This survey led to the report "Groningers Boven Gas", in which the inquiry committee found that the inhabitants of the gas extraction area in Groningen have taken the negative consequences of gas extraction for decades, and that the Netherlands has an "honorary debt" to the region. The cabinet response to this report "Nij Begun" - contained 50 measures with which the government followed the conclusions and recommendations of the parliamentary committee of inquiry.
