- Tenders are invited for Space Based Links for the Quantum Internet (Artes 4.0 Sl Spl 5g.036) - Expro+. Objective: The objective of the activity is to study concepts and design technologies for extending/supporting the terrestrial quantum internet developments with space-based connectivity.Targeted Improvements: Enabler for long (100km) quantum internet connections. Fibre losses limit the range of connections to less than 100 km and longer links can only be realised using satellites. Description:1) Reviewing/surveying of applications based on the quantum internet (e.g. connecting quantum computers, sensors...) 2) Defining Quantum Internet user requirements and deriving requirements for the space-based links. 3) Designing a breadboard simulating space-based quantum internet links in laboratory environment and the first iteration of a space payload and ground receiver. Overcoming the distance limitations for fibre-based quantum internet by using satellite-based quantum links. This will enable future extensions of the quantum internet to connect quantum computers, quantum sensors and other quantum communication applications over distances 1000 km including intercontinental distances.Procurement Policy: C(1) = Activity restricted to non-prime contractors (incl.
