- Rijkswaterstaat Central Information Provision (RWS CIV) aims to compete the delivery, calibration and maintenance of Lidar (Light Detection and Ranging) systems with the aim of realizing a reliable data extraction. These Lidar systems are placed on TenneTplatforms of wind energy areas on the North Sea to collect information regarding wind direction and wind speeds. The growing number of wind farms in the Dutch North Sea offers both the need and the possibility to measure the wind conditions at those locations. The data can be used for nowcasting and improving weather forecasts, increasing the efficiency of the wind turbines, as well as for wind climatic purposes.
