Description:
Tenders are invited for Science Mission L4 Technical Concept Studies. Industrial early concept studies for the ESA Science Voyage 2050 mission L4 theme, currently aiming at a launch around 2045. Following the selection of themes, the Director of the ESA Science Directorate nominated early 2022 an external science expert team for the Moons of the Giant Solar System Planets theme and ESA conducted a set of preliminary CDF studies to investigate potential mission concepts, by taking into account the preliminary science priorities received from the nominated expert team. The initial mission concepts developed so far identified several technical challenges driven by the high delta-V requirements and the specific environmental conditions at the Giant Planets and their Moons, like radiation, long transfers, low solar flux and resultinglow temperatures and challenging energy supply and challenges associated with landing on the surface of the interesting Moons.
