- Description : The DMO is exploring the possibilities for Blanking Units (BU) for its future frigates, with as first the planned capability Anti-Submarine Warfare Frigate (ASWF). The current plan is to realize full operational capability by 2028. The BU provides timing signals to de ESM when emitters on the ASWF start emitting RF signals, such that the ESM can (digitally) filter out those RF signals in the ESM receive chain. This to prevent the ESM or ESM operator to spent valuable time analyzing own ship signals.
