- This is a Request for Information (RFI) with regards to gas leak detection equipment. In August 2024, a new EU regulation (Regulation (EU) 2024/1787) took effect, concerning methane emissions reduction in the energy sector. Methane, the second largest contributor to climate change after CO2, is a critical target in the EU's strategy to meet its climate goals. Alliander N.V. as a Distribution System Operator (utilities) in The Netherlands, operating 42.000 km of gas grid, is required to comply with this new regulation by reporting verified data on the volume and location of gas leak emissions. This requires Alliander to purchase suitable equipment. This RFI is intended to obtain a better understanding of the market for gas leak detection equipment. Alliander wishes to make use of available market expertise, and as a supplier in this market, you are kindly requested to help Alliander by responding.
