Description:
The Khaakbrug in Oegstgeest is the last historic bridge over the Haarlemmertrekvaart and has been designated as a municipal monument since 2021, which must comply with the Monuments Act. The Khaakbrug dates from 1782 and has been built several times over the years restored. In 2007, the bridge was reinforced with a steel sheet pile wall at the western abutment. However, these measures could not prevent the bridge from being closed to cars and trucks in 2011. A thorough renovation is necessary to... to renovate a monumental bridge so that current requirements for structural safety are met.
