Description: The Netherlands is working hard on a transition from fossil fuels to sustainable energy. Part of this transition is the realization of large numbers of wind turbines on land and in the sea. In addition to the positive goal of wind turbines, the production of sustainable energy, wind turbines can also have negative effects on the environment. One of these negative effects is the mortality of birds due to collisions with the running rotors. We are always looking for ways to minimize the mortality of birds at wind turbines as much as possible, at the lowest possible cost and / or with as little loss of energy production. The results have recently been published from an investigation carried out on Norwegian Island Smøla, which has been tested whether the black paints of one wick of a wind turbine produces a reduction in the number of collecting victims.
