Description : Within Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR) there has been an increase in the demand for molecular typing in recent years. In particular, STEC and Salmonella are increasingly dependent on molecular techniques. It is to be expected that this degree of dependence will continue to grow towards Listeria, Campylobacter and AMR bacteria. In addition, there is an increase in the number of isolates for which WGS analyses is requested. Currently this is already done for Listeria, STEC and Salmonella, but in 2-3 years it will also be applied to AMR bacteria, Vibrio and Campylobacter and isolates.
All this leads to the need for more automation, which is to be met by the purchase of a fully automated DNA extraction robot. A DNA extraction robot results in less hands-on time per analysis and a higher quality of the extracted DNA (and RNA).
