• Vechtstromen Water Board Water is of vital importance. We need it as drinking water, for arable farming, in livestock farming and in industry. In the Netherlands there is usually enough water, but it is often unevenly distributed and polluted. That is why water management is necessary. Where to there is a lot of water, the water boards drain it. Where there is too little water, they supply it. They regulate the discharge of polluted water with permits. They purify the sewage water and maintain the flood defenses. The Vechtstromen Water Board is in South-East Drenthe Vechtdal and in Twente responsible for clean, safe and sufficient water. As a water manager, we stand for a sustainable living environment that meets the needs for living, working, living and recreation. Our organization has approximately 600 employees. We work anywhere in our management area. Our head office is located in Almelo and the regional offices are located in Hardenberg, Sleen, NieuwAmsterdam and Hengelo. In addition, there are locations where the purification process takes place: the 23 sewage treatment plants. See also the area map on our website.
