Description:
The Town Hall on the Markt in Gouda is one of the most iconic buildings in the city and a cultural -historical monument in the Netherlands. The municipality's ambition is to give the town hall a stronger social significance and to strengthen the connection with the city. The monument is now in need of a grand approach: re -use and sustainability of the town hall, including the restoration and improvement of accessibility. This project strives for a gasless town hall, with a CO₂ reduction of at least 52%. The work includes the structural and installation technical adjustments to the interior and exterior, asbestos remediation, the restoration of the west façade, the glass input windows and the slate roofing. Installations are being installed, including a heat pump, to make the town hall more energy efficient. In addition, accessibility facilities are being expanded with a new lift, gender -inclusive toilets and improved signage.
