  • Tenders are invited for Quantum Reference for Timekeeping and Sensing Applications - Re-Issue Price Range 500 KEURO achieve one order of magnitude better time stability compared to current available miniature timing reference (i.e. 100 ns over one day) with power consumption below 1W.DescriptionRecently, several works on the advances in the chip scale optical clocks have been published. This is a promising technology for achieving better time stability. To address this, selection of spectroscopy technique for laser stabilisation to be compatible with high integration and low power consumption is to be investigated. Related to thistechnology, the down-conversion of the optical signal to RF or microwave domain is based on optical comb solutions. As well as, Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) maturity shall be also addressed and roadmap established.Optical clocks are not the only possible technological option. Studies about molecular clocks exploiting the molecular rotational resonance of a rarefied gas have shown also promising outlooks as well as atomic clocks based on vapor cells with optimized interrogation schemes to improve the atomic resonatorsignal-to-noise ratio and reduce sensitivity to laser pumping fluctuations and environmental disturbs.The activity aims to prove the concept for a miniaturized clock architecture and to provide the specification of building blocks requirements for future optimization and design maturity increase.This activity encompasses the following tasks:- Literature review and identification of baseline architecture to achieve high level stability requirements and power consumption target- Design definition of the demonstrator- Demonstrator realization- Demonstrator characterisation and critical review of the baseline architecture.- Definition of a development plan and associated critical items
