Description:
TenneT aims to realize and maintain several 2GW connections for the supply of electricity in the Netherlands and Germany. The scope includes 525 kV cable connections, e.g. between offshore DC platforms and land stations, between land stations, for Multi-Purpose Interconnector (MPI) projects and between offshore platforms. Each Offshore Grid Connection System receives up to 2GW of 66kV (or higher) electricity generated by offshore windfarms, which must be converted offshore from AC to DC. Via 525 kV cables the DC power is transported to shore, where the DC is to be converted back to AC to enable transportation on the AC onshore grid. The scope covers projects in the Netherlands and Germany offshore, nearshore, inshore and onshore. The scope of this Qualification System may include the following activities: design, engineering, production, transportation, delivery, assembly, supervision of cable laying, testing, installation and commissioning of 525 kV DC cable systems.
