- Tenders are invited for Pre-Phase a of Solar System Internet Study - Expro Plus. The vision of a Solar System Internet, enabling Internet-like networked communication in space, offers technological and economic opportunities for ESA and its Member states. Solar System Internet Technologies including Disruption Tolerant Networking and Position, Navigation and Timing are expected to deliver benefits to ESA Programmes and commercial space activities. Application scenarios include Earth Observation, Lunar, Mars and Interplanetary missions using radio-frequency and optical technologies. The purpose of the Pre-Phase A activity is to assess the technological, economic, and strategic dimensions of a Solar System Internet and related technologies and to develop an ESA SSI roadmap covering the time up to 2040 with specific activities for 2025 to 2030.
