Description : The Leiden Institute of Physics is out to purchase a state-of-the-art/turn-key "cryogen-free measurement system" for low temperature electrical transport and magnetic properties in van der Waals heterostructures, magnetic-superconducting devices and testing scanning probe microscopes. For these investigations, the apparatus must have proven reliability, high throughput and withstand intense use by several research groups, with virtually no down-time from the moment of installation.After an exhaustive market analysis we conclude that Quantum Design GmbH (QD) is the only vendor that provides an apparatus with all the technical capabilities to meet our scientific requirements (listed under) and with unmatched reputation and customer satisfaction in the scientific community. The most relevant work and the highest sensitivity electrical and magnetic measurements in the literature are systematically performed in QD "PPMS" systems. We aim to the best temperature stability for the longer time possible for transport, critical current, magnetic measurements and testing of scanning probes.
