Tenders are invited for operation of ESA BIC Finland with a new contract under ESA's Scaleup programme The network of ESA Business Incubation Centers (ESA BICs) is the largest network of space incubators in Europe. The two main objective of ESA BICs are to:Support entrepreneurs with a space-based business idea Create and grow clusters of space related start-ups across Europe.All ESA BICs are managed by local incubators with experience of supporting start-ups. They have good connectionswith local industry, universities, research organisations, as well as relevant government agencies and investor communities. ESA BICs follow the ESA BIC Common Approach to business incubation. So far, the network of ESA BICs has supported more than 1200 start-ups. The first contract for an ESA BIC Finland was signed in December 2017 between Aalto University Foundation and ESA. The space related start-ups supported under this contract are a welcome addition to both the number of companies and the type of companies active in the space sector in Finland.The Finnish delegation wishes to continue the operation of ESA BIC Finland with a new contract underESA's ScaleUp programme. This contract is going to be procured following an Invitation to Tender.The objective is to find and support 38 space-related incubatees over an active period of four years, with an additional two years added to the contract duration tosupport any incubatees remaining in the incubator. Each selected incubatee shall be entitled to an incentive funding of at least 60kEUR, with 30kEUR coming from ESA and the remaining part to be provided by a local co-funding partner.Read more
