Description:
Please note that this is not a call for tenders but a publication announcing the Contracting authority-s intention to publish a future negotiated low or middle valueprocedure. JRC-Petten performs research on structural materials, assessment of structures, systems and components with regards to integrity and ageing effects and material degradation mechanisms, relevant to the safety of current and future nuclear power plants. In this context, JRC-Petten is currently using various methods for characterization of metallic materials and components, including tensile testing, creep testing, small punch testing, Charpy impact testing, mechanical testing in corrosive environments, application of microscopic test methods, and neutron diffraction. To complement its materials characterization portfolio, JRC-Petten intends to re-introduce the capability to perform Vickers hardness testing on a variety of the sample types relevant to, among others, the above testing techniques. This will concern testing of samples of diverse sizes and shapes, including small thickness (small punch testing) or large surface area (neutron diffraction) samples. To this end, JRC-Petten would like to procure a new table-top hardness testing machine for a wide range of test loads.
