Description: The municipality of Sittard-Geleen is working on a safe and livable municipality. The municipality has a future vision 2030, which includes these assignments. To this end, a total package has been made to safety and liveability measures, of which Camera surveillance is an important part. Since 2014, the mayor has been put in Camera surveillance for the purpose of enforcing public order in Sittard and Geleen Centers. Later the area around the Footuna football stadium has been added and expansion in and around the centers over the years. Primary to reduce the entertainment violence, to tackle the drug nuisance and to improve the sense of safety. Camera surveillance has been evaluated in the meantime. This shows that camera surveillance makes a constant positive contribution to the package of measures to tackle safety assignments in the municipality. A logical consequence of this is the continuation and expansion of camera surveillance. In 2021 the municipality has started a further development project.
