- For the performance of its duties, Rijkswaterstaat needs hydrological and meteorological information within the area it managed. The National Water Measurement Network (LMW) stands for real -time monitoring of water levels, current speeds, drains, waves, some water quality parameters and meteorological information in around 500 representative locations on the North Sea, Wadden Sea, Estuaria (widened river mouth), rivers and canals. The data is collected with the help of sensors at locations of the LMW and third parties. To achieve this, the locations and the equipment for data extraction must be in reliable and complete state. This requires management and maintenance of the locations and sensors, so that the quality and availability of the data to be obtained (in accordance with the requirements set) remain guaranteed.
