  • Tenders are invited for Model-Based Execution Platform for Space Applications Objectives: The objective of this activity is to develop a modelling environment supporting the automatic generation of an execution platform for space applications. Description: This activity is building on top of the results of two previous activities in the domain of model-based approach applied to embedded systems (T702-502SW - Compact Reconfigurable Avionics (CoRA): Model Based Avionics Design) and in the domain of modular execution platforms (T702-501SW - Payload Execution Platform Software (PEPS)). The first activity demonstrated the interest of a model-based development for space applications. The second activity explored the modularity concepts of execution platforms required by space applications. The proposed activity is aiming at applying a model-based approach to the development of a modular execution platform. The environment to be develop by the proposed activity shall support the configuration and the generation of execution platforms following a model-based approach considering already existing building blocks (such as PUS (packet utilization service) library, OBCP (On-Board Control Procedures), MLFS (Mathematical Library For Space), etc.). This includes the modelling of the overall software architecture and building blocks, the support of configuration of the models covering both the functions to be supported and their deployment on specific hardware (e.g. micro-controller for Cubesats and MPSoCs (Multiprocessor system on a chip) for large spacecraft). The demonstration of the approach shall rely on representative uses cases covering different configurations, e.g. small and large payload and platforms, different executive kernels (e.g. RTOS (real time operating systems) and TSP (time and space partitioning)), etc. The following tasks are foreseen in this activity: Identification of representative use cases covering different size of spacecraft, platform and payloads and executive kernels with example applications (e.g. data processing for payload and spacecraft mode management for platform). Selection of the modelling environment, selection of the architectureand functions to model (OBCP, PUS, MLFS, etc.), selection of the target (preferably multi-core or MPSoC - representative hardware or simulated environment) for the deployment. Update of the selected modelling environment to support the objectives of the activity including the development of the automatic generator(s) able to produce the code (software and possibly HDL (Hardware Description Language) if SoC (System on a Chip) device is selected) of an execution platform for a particular target environment corresponding to a configuration identified at model level. Modelling of the execution platform architecture considering the needs and the different configurations identified in the use cases. Development of the demonstration application identified in the use cases. Generation of the execution platforms and execution of the demonstration applications.
