- The introduction of a new virus during the COVID19 Pandemie has led to a structurally larger influx of patients with respiratory complaints due to viral infections. Based on the current volume of diagnostics, 30% of patients with complaints are found a causative agent in which insulation measures are indicated. Given the limited options for insulation in the UMCU, rapid diagnostics to the causative agent is indispensable. In order to continue to meet this need, UMCU intends to purchase speed diagnostics capacity. In addition to applying respiratory syndromes, there is also a need to be able to apply such syndrome focused fast diagnostics for other diseases, such as meningitis/encephalitis and gastroenteritis.
