Port of Rotterdam wants to replace its current fleet with a completely emission-free fleet by 2035. With the “Fleet Renewal and Sustainability Program” the ships will be standardized as much as possible, and the maintenance processes simplified. In line with our purpose “Connecting the World. Building tomorrow-s sustainable port”, the management of the Port of Rotterdam Authority has expressed the ambition to make the new fleet as emission-free as possible so we contribute to a sustainable port. Port of Rotterdam wants to gain insight at an early stage into the possibilities that the market offers now and in the near future regarding the automated changing of battery packs for shipping, with the aim of weighing up this solution in the fleet vision and plans for the future fleet composition.
