- The Senate of the Parliament accepted a motion on black blades on June 22 in 2021. This motion requests the cabinet to make black blades mandatory by tendering offshore windfarms, to reduce as many bird collisions as possible. In response to this motion, several studies are executed to investigate the efficiency and effectiveness of the black blade. To assess the impact of black blades on air traffic safety, this study is initiated by RVO. The aim is to simulate several scenarios where coloured or black blades are applied in an air traffic simulator. As black blades are not applied yet offshore, the reliability of the simulator should be assessed by means of a validation case.
