• To actively manage traffic, road authorities in the Netherlands often use a so-called Network Management System that supports the coherent use of various (traditional) DVM instruments such as (i)VRIs, DRIPS, TDIs, CCTV systems. etc. so that they guide and direct traffic as efficiently as possible. Recent projects (e.g. VMIVRA, A12 parallel approach, A27 Noordeloos, etc.) have shown that additional use of (private) traffic information and navigation services for managing traffic can be effective and useful. There is also a growing need to use the instruments for multiple goals, for example for sustainability, safety and quality of life, with an increasingly multimodal approach. The current Network Management systems (NMSs) are primarily aimed at managing car traffic via traditional DVM systems and also have regional differences. Increasing cooperation between public and private parties in the deployment of private services in one A multimodal network is not possible without some form of standardization of information flows and coordination of work processes among road authorities. In addition, European rules apply to data exchange which, among other things, focus on data quality and... standardization of data exchange. The regional differences in control approach and system within the existing organically grown NMS architecture are now experienced as complex and are considered unmanageable for the future. Working together operating DVM instruments across different areas is complicated and time-consuming. In addition, regional differences do not benefit effective collaboration with service providers. NDW would like to discuss this during the market exploration interested parties about the transition to a new architecture.
