Description: TenneT has bundled her experiences and further developed from the German 900MW HVDC and Dutch 700MW AC programs in the new 2GW program. The result is a new approach to future connections with a capacity of 2 gigawatt (GW) by means of 525 kilovolts (kv) HVDC connections. Per offshore grid Connection will be converted to 2 GW of electricity, generated by the offshore wind farms, from 66 kV AC to 525 kV DC and transported through underground offshore cable connections to Onshore Landstations where DC will again be converted to AC to enter the network then are being brought.
Given the size and ambitious planning, TenneT has taken standardization as a starting point within the 2GW program for the development and realization of 2GW Grid Connections.
