- Maastricht's development ambitions and the maintenance task of the city's road network require coordination with the underlying sewer system. Is the system still compliant, what is the status and are there possible opportunities for linking up? In this context, 70 km of the system will be spread through the city in 2024 and 2025. depicted. This inspection showed accelerated degradation of large parts of the system compared to the last inspection round. This has resulted in an additional investment of approximately 30 million until 2028.
Maastricht's sewer system consists of 655 km of pipes, of which 41% are older than 50 years. Imaging the remaining 585 km will take approximately 10 years. Given the above-ground tasks and developments, this takes too long. There is now a need for an up-to-date and accurate insight into the condition and (quality) issues of the entire sewer system in the city.
Er it must be possible to anticipate developments and make use of opportunities for linking up with investments. In addition, there must be a shift from corrective maintenance (damage, sinkholes, etc.) to proactive maintenance.
