  • Description:
  • The wind turbines at sea cause bird deaths during peak migration. By shutting down wind turbines at sea when large bird migration is expected, the number of bird victims is reduced. The start-stop project was created for this purpose. Because of the energyIt should be clear 48 hours in advance whether large bird migration is expected. To this end, a prediction model for bird migration has been drawn up by the University of Amsterdam. However, data could only be collected for this model for a short period of time. To make sure that windmolens are not unnecessarily shut down, an expert team is also being set up to draw up predictions for the prevention of peak times of migration. The expert team is set up as an extra safeguard for predicting spring and autumn draft peaks over the North Sea.
