Description : The immediate cause for the current market survey is the preparation for the implementation of a sex-dependent screening for adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD). However, it is expected that the screening will be expanded in the future to include new conditions, some of which may be X-linked. Although the sex of neonates is registered on the newborn screening cards in principle, this information is not deemed sufficiently reliable for the purpose of sex-dependent screening. Therefore, we are looking for an analytical solution to determine the number of X-chromosomes of neonates instead, since this is a better predicator of the outcome of recessive X-linked disorders, such as ALD.
We are therefore interested to find out, in this market survey, what tests are available that may be suitable for performing sex determination in a screening setting, including tests based on X-chromosome counting. We are also in...
