This market consultation by Rijkswaterstaat Central Information Provision (RWS CIV) relates to the intended tender for a number of Light Detection and Ranging systems (LiDAR systems). Rijkswaterstaat intends to install a number of LiDAR systems on the platforms of wind energy areas, among othersp the North Sea to gather information on wind direction and wind speeds. The growing number of wind farms in the Dutch North Sea offers both the need and the opportunity to measure the wind conditions at those locations. The data can be used, among other things, for nowcasting and improvingweather forecasting, increasing the efficiency of the wind turbines, as well as for wind climatological purposes.
