Description: The quality of nature in various nature areas of Staatsbosbeheer is under severe pressure due to the high nitrogen deposition, which has an acidifying effect. Corrective measures are therefore necessary.
Staatsbosbeheer wants to explore soil improvement through the application of stone meal as a possible sustainable solution and is orientating itself on the national tender for the supply of stone meal for various nature areas in the Netherlands. This tender is expected to be published in mid-2021.
However, the situation on the Sallandse Heuvelrug and the Springendal is so urgent that the administration of stone meal must be started in the short term. Independent research has shown that one specific type of stone meal, namely Nepheline Syenite Concentrate (NSC, also called Lurgi or Soilfeed), has been proven through pilots to have the correct effect of this product.
