• Tilburg University is looking for a supplier for a software solution to offer a test workplace in addition to a student workplace. Tilburg University has approximately 1,500 student workstations (SWPs) that are used for a number of purposes. The The main purposes are regular education, taking digital exams and self-study. Basically, all SWPs are identical in design. Active Directory users (students, employees, etc.) can log in to a student workstation and can then use all pre-installed applications. During digital exams, exam candidates (students) log in to the same SWPs with their own account and they also have access to all pre-installed applications. To prevent fraud measures are taken at the SWPs during exams. A switch is made, as it were, from “normal mode” to “exam mode” by applying scripts, policies and other functions that together ensure that the workplace functions optimally and the risk of fraud is minimized. We call these sets of measures workspace templates. There are different types of workspace templates such as TestVision Only and Open Book. Measures included include: limited internet and network access, whether or not removable storage (e.g. USB sticks) is allowed, additional Windows policies and settings, limited access to network shares. It is also possible to make specific applications unavailable. Also additional measures are applied via custom scripts and registry settings. The SWPs consist of physical devices; desktops, all-in-ones and notebooks. A number of virtual machines are also used for testing purposes only.
