- This market consultation of Rijkswaterstaat Central Information Provision (RWS CIV) relates to the intended tendering of a number of Light Detection and Ranking systems (Lidar systems). Rijkswaterstaat aims to place a number of Lidar systems on the platforms of wind energy areas on the North Sea to collect information regarding wind direction and wind speeds. The growing number of wind farms in the Dutch North Sea offers both the need and the possibility to measure the wind conditions at those locations. The data can be used for nowcasting and improving weather forecasts, increasing the efficiency of the wind turbines, as well as for wind climatic purposes.
