Description : The Reactor Institute Delft is part of the Delft University of Technology and runs a 2.3 MW open pool research reactor. Neutrons, positions and radioisotopes produced by the reactor are used for research, education and valorization (themes Energy and Health). As part of a major upgrade program, OYSTER, the guide hall beam will be equipped with a cold source to convert the spectrum for the guide hall instruments. Commissioning of the cold source is expected for summer 2021. One of the new instruments on one of the cold neutron guides is the former GKSS SANS instrument which has been refurbished and adapted to the Delft situation. Last part of this renewal is the SANS detector, the current detector is 30 years year old and currently not operational. A new 2D neutron detector system for the SANS is required based on 3He/CF4 gas filled wire chamber, delay line.
