After the redesign of the Grote Markt, the Vismarkt faces a major change. There is less space for the commodity market on the Grote Markt. That is why the majority of the stalls must be merged with the commodities market on the Vismarkt. In consultations with market entrepreneurs about the merger of both markets, it has been promised that the Vismarkt will be improved. To improve working conditions and to make the market more accessible, it has been indicated that the convex boulders are flattened on the square. In addition, the current commodity market is on a number of things against functional and technical boundaries. The existing facilities are outdated and no longer meet the requirements. But there is more. Groningen focuses on liveability. Also outside the market times, the Vismarkt must be a pleasant place to live, do business and stay. Substantial steps have been taken here in recent years. Where buses took a lot of space in the city center and the Vismarkt was a parking space, the city center of Groningen has been increasingly furnished for pedestrians and cyclists in recent decades, visiting and experience.
