  • Tenders are invited for Lightweight Thrust Mechanism for Large Engines Configurations (Litmec) reduce mass, an activity to design a lightweight SEP thruster pointing system (using hold down bolts for the launch, and then very low mass and slow moving devices to point the thrusters) would be very beneficial for future science missions. The mechanism should be able to support at least three 20kW class EP thrusters (of roughly 150kg in combined payload mass).Minimising the number of degrees of freedom is one objective (gimbaling canted thrusters may require more than 2 angular axes to point at CoG...); minimize the combined mass and cost; utilization of advanced technologies (e.g. additive manufacturing) and rapid prototyping can be an asset;Tasks:- Establish and consolidate technical requirements- perform a tradeoff between solutions against TRL, mass and cost- select2 promising concepts- preliminary design the concept critical aspects- build necessary breadboards and prototype of the critical technologies to demonstrate feasibility- Refine technical requirements and technical constraints- Pave the way forward for a further development
