Water is of vital importance. We need it as drinking water, for arable farming, in animal husbandry and in the industry. In the Netherlands, water is usually enough, but it is often unevenly divided and contaminated. That is why water management is needed. Where too much water is, the water boards perform it. Where too little, they apply it. With permits they arrange the discharge of contaminated water. They purify the sewage and maintain the flood defenses.
Fighting flows water board contains roughly Twente, Southeast Drenthe and Northeast Overijssel. The management area is 225 000 hectares in size, has 800 000 inhabitants and around 470,000 households.
Purpose of the tender
