Description: Client Water is of vital importance. We need it as drinking water, for arable farming, in animal husbandry and in industry and nature. In the Netherlands, water is usually enough, but it is often unevenly distributed and contaminated. Water management is needed to improve the distribution and quality. Where there is too much water, the water boards carry it off. Where there is too little, they lead it. With permits they arrange the discharge of polluted water. Water boards are taking measures to bring the biological and chemical water quality to the desired level (WFD) and they purify the sewage water and maintain the flood defenses. Water board Drents Overijsselse Delta (WDODelta) originated from a merger between the Reest en Wieden Water Board as of January 1, 2016 and Water Board Groot Salland. The working area covers this merger from the southwestern part of Drenthe and the western part of Overijssel. With a management area of 275,500 hectares, the water board is the second largest in the Netherlands.
