- Future Heat Leiden is a project to make the district heating supply in the Leiden region more sustainable and future-proof. To this end, new heat sources are being developed that will feed the existing district heating network. Basically, a district heating network is based on a sustainable residual heat sourcen supplemented with Peak and back-up installations to absorb the peaks in the heat demand and to be used in the event of a failure of one of the other sources. For the base load, a heat transport agreement has been signed with Warmtelinq (part of Gasunie) for a transport capacity of 40MWth for the transport of residual heat from the port of Rotterdam to the Leiden Region.
