Description: In the case of further foundation study, it has shown that the foundation of BG5 is no longer stable. Differences in pocketing have been observed and the wooden foundation piles are affected in several places.
In order to meet modern educational needs, the building will be renovated and modernized. For this it is necessary to recover and improve the foundation. The UvA has decided to dissolve the foundation recovery as a project statement of the architectural renovation above ground level. This market consultation only sees the BG-5 foundation recovery project.
In addition to the (Geo) technical challenge of the foundation recovery, the limited distance to nearby objects, logistics limitations in the center of Amsterdam and the monumental status of the building, aspects that make it a complex challenge. The building is not in use during the renovation.
