Description:
It is useful for managers and policymakers to know how low dust fluxes of nitrate, sulphate and phosphate via the groundwater must be for the sustainable survival and good quality of seepage-dependent habitats. This knowledge is necessary for the elaboration and dimensioning of measures forimproving groundwater quality. The aim of this research is 1) to quantify the dust load of seepage zones, 2) to establish a relationship between on the one hand dust load, dust concentration and seepage flux and on the other the biogeochemical processes that are important for seepage-dependent habitats.ts and 3) draw up a diagnostic tool that determines the risks of the supply of nitrate, sulphate and phosphate by groundwater for seepage-dependent nature areas and that the need for source-oriented measures can be easily quantified.
