- The project area of the dyke improvement -channeled Dutch IJssel Noord (Ghijnoord) includes the northern regional flood defense, the foreland, the Voorlandkering and the bank between Hekendorp and Achthovenoost. Length approx. 18.3 km. The flood defense does not meet the stated safety standard against flooding on this route in a number of places. The aim of the project is to have the flood defense to meet the provincial safety standard and to contribute to the quality of the living environment where possible. Ambitions are here; 1) One to manage Water barrier 2) Create social added value 3) Sustainability: limit CO2 emissions and use of materials 4) Satisfied stakeholders The project is in vulnerable and almost only accessible from the water and falls within the high -water protection program.
