- Tenders are invited for Development of Quantum Microwave Sensors for RF Payloads Quantum information processing systems rely on a broad range of microwave technologies and have spurred development of microwave devices and methods in new operating regimes. By means of quantum technology, ultra-sensitive and very wideband microwave sensors can be envisaged which could pave the way to novel spaceborne RF payloads and microwave remote sensing instruments targeting applications such as earth observation, science and telecommunications.This activity conducts a preliminary assessment of the applicability ofquantum technology for the development of ultrasensitive, very wideband microwave sensors for the potential applications of earth observation, science and telecommunication. It aims at developing a proof-of-concept breadboard of the critical functions of a quantum microwave sensor for space borne RF payloads and microwave remote sensing instruments. The demonstrator shall be employed to evaluate the associated performance parameters such as achievable bandwidth, sensitivity, linearity and dynamic range and to verify the suitability to space applications. Finally, this activity identifies the critical technologies that require further development and establishes a technology development roadmap. A path finder mission shall be also defined to further demonstrate the applicability ofthe technology for the suitable application cases.This activity encompasses the following tasks:- Overall assessment of microwavesensors for quantum technologies on space missions- Requirement consolidation and performance assessment- Preliminary concept design- Development of a proof-of-concept breadboard and performance verification- Development of a technology roadmap, preliminary definition of a path finder missionProcurement Policy: C(2) = A relevant participation (in terms of quality and quantity) of non-primes (incl.
