  • Description:
  • Tenders are invited for Design Mitigation Techniques Evaluation of Advanced Cots Fpgas for Esa Missions Advanced COTS FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array), have higher clock frequency capability, higher signal processing bandwidth and the newer generation of transceivers. This allows to implement high-performance function for which there is a high market demand with the applications in the current and future missions. Some of the COTS devices that are not Radiation Hardened by Design (RHBD) could meet the space requirements for TID (Total Ionisation Dose) and SEL (Single Event Latch-up). However, there would be still dominance of Single Event Effects (SEEs) and component Single Event Failure Interrupts (SEFIs). This requires clear guideline and tools tosupport the implementation of mitigation technique that can guarantee the requested reliability of the design. The commercial toolscurrently available do not cover all the aspect of mitigation and the validation of the mitigation is not currently fully covered. This activity consolidates the design mitigation techniques required for the advanced COTS FPGAs after researching the current stateofradiation results and design mitigation techniques. The goal is to define and implement known techniques using commercial tools. In parallel it defines and updates, develops innovative RD strategies and tools to extend the mitigation techniques and flows. Theresults are validated by radiation testing and complemented when possible with other (e.g. fault Injection). This activity targets at providing guidelines for ESA missions of different types and evaluate the applicability of the tools developed to other technologies. This activity encompasses the following tasks:- Identify the advanced COTS FPGAs- Analyse of current state of radiation results and the design mitigation technique- Identify weakness in the current mitigation techniques applied by the tools and an innovative mitigation strategy- Develop tools to extend mitigation technique- Assess the results of the mitigation technique by radiation test (before and after mitigation applied)- Lessons learnt and initial guideline and tools for ESA missions- Assess the applicability of the tools to other technologiesProcurement Policy: C(1) = Activity restricted to non-prime contractors (incl. SMEs).
