  • Description:
  • Tenders are invited for Data, Control and Signalling Protocols for Spectrum Sharing among Co-Existing Satellite Internet-of-Things Networks (Artes at 3c.044) The objective of the activity is to develop and test data, control and signalling protocols to enable spectrum sharing among co-existing satellite Internet-of-Things (IoT) networks for new frequency allocations (i.e. below 5 GHz according to resolution 812 WRC 2019) that are on the agenda of the World Radio-Communication Conference (WRC) in 2027. The activity will include a measurement campaign to quantify the interference environment using existing space assets or equivalent methods.Targeted Improvements:Improving theaggregate throughput of each network by a least 50% in comparison to orthogonal allocation of spectrum.Description:World Radio-communication Conference (WRC) in 2019. New frequency allocations for IoT satellite networks will only be granted if efficient spectrum use is demonstrated. However, classic spectrum sharing approaches where a frequency band is split among operators or is allocatedon a first-come first-served basis are spectrally inefficient especially for IoT networks. This activity will develop a spectrum sharing techniques for co-existing satellite IoT networks with 50% improved spectral efficiency in comparison to today's orthogonal spectrum allocation. The techniques will accommodate independent actors with overlapping coverage regions and dynamic system traffic loads. This will include the development of data, control and signalling protocols. A measurement campaign will be carried out to characterise the level of interference in the proposed frequency allocation (below 5GHz) for the WRC. The developed techniques will beimplemented in a software testbed and the improvement in spectral efficiency will be assessed.Footnote: On Delegation Request activities will only be initiated on the explicit request of at least one National Delegation.Read more
