Description:
The aim of the DPZW is to ensure that the Netherlands is resilient to a freshwater shortage in 2050. This is the overarching goal of the five national (sub) goals established in the Delta Program on Freshwater 2015:
(1) a healthy and balanced promote water system,
(2)crucial useprotect ks functions,
(3) improve the competitive position of water-dependent sectors,
(4) use water effectively and economically and
(5) develop water knowledge, skills and innovations.
Measures are needed to make the Netherlands resilient to freshwater shortages.
The DPZW is in line with the vorder of preference from the National Environmental Vision (NOVI):
(1) Take water availability into account in spatial planning and land use;
(2) Use the available water economically;
(3) Better retain water to ensure availability;
(4)Distribute water more intelligently across water demandsfunctions in an area;
(5)Accept and prepare any residual damage.
