Description: The reason for the need for a bicycle detection system is the busyness on the Roeterseiland Campus (REC). There are more and more students who come to campus by bicycle. The area is experiencing inconvenience due to incorrectly parked bicycles. There is also a large number of abandoned bicycles that take up parking spaces in the bicycle sheds.
The UvA does not currently have a system that monitors the number of bicycles. Bicycle coaches currently manage the parking facility. They also remove the wrongly parked bicycles and the bicycles that have been there for a long time.
