- Rijkswaterstaat buys a large amount of road salt annually to supply the strategic salt sheds (central storage locations) to the maximum. From the strategic salt sheds, the salt stocks of 55+ support points of RWS and cooperation partners (local authorities) are supplemented to guarantee safety and traffic flow on roads under the responsibility of RWS and its cooperation partners. The contractor must mainly perform the following: the delivery of road salt in bulk spread over 3 plots, including transport by ship to the ports/quays near the central salt sheds.
